  3. Great customer service and quick shipping! Always had quick responses when ever I had questions. I purchased the 100ah 12v battery from them, can confirm from independently testing the battery that it provides just over the 100ah. The app is great for monitoring the battery life. Would not hesitate to purchase another battery from them.

  5. After a few weeks of lousy weather, I finally was able to hook the battery to my 30lb trolling motor and cruise around in my kayak. Being half the weight of a lead acid battery I’m sure allowed me to hit a very reasonable top speed and never made the boat feel overloaded. Monitoring the battery through the bluetooth app was easy and gave me info on power draw, total voltage, individual cell voltage and estimated time left based on current draw. Very happy with this battery and charger I purchased, Bear Volts was super helpful in explaining how to use the apps.

Q & A

Do I need to upgrade the converter in my 2013 Rockwood trailer to charge these batteries properly? Ron Graham asked on August 10, 2023

This is a question we get asked a lot. If the converter model does not have a lithium setting then we don’t recommend using it. While it might be possible, chargers/converters designed for traditional chemistry batteries would use an unsuitable charge algorithm that could generate a fault code on the charger itself or send the battery management system into a protection mode. This is particularly true if the charger uses a de-sulphate setting or has an equalization mode that cannot be turned off.

Bear Volts batteries require a constant 14.2 to 14.6v to fully charge. For maximum longevity and performance we recommend using a charger with a lithium mode. Usually converters have a master battery fuse that when pulled disables the charging features but does not disconnect the accessory circuits. For a simple installation, one can remove this fuse and connect a lithium compatible charger (such as the Victron units in our store) to the battery while maintaining all other converter functionality except the charge feature.
